Tenacious D are an American comedy rock duo consisting of Jack Black and Kyle Gass. They have released three albums; Tenacious D (2001), The Pick of Destiny (2006) and Rize of the Fenix (2012) along with a number of minor releases. They were also the stars of the film Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, for which the second album is the soundtrack. Black in particular is also a noted actor, especially for comedy roles. Gass has also made appearances in films. The two also voiced and lent their likenesses to characters in the heavy metal themed video game Brütal Legend, with Black playing hero Eddie Riggs. The music of Tenacious D is largely acoustic rock but the group has also included elements of both heavy metal and hard rock in their sound.
