Christian Andersen is a Toronto-based guitarist, songwriter, producer, session musician and teacher. In 2012 he released his debut album Insight, an EP that delivers a modern blend of metal, prog-rock and shred guitar styles. At 18, Christian moved to Los Angeles to attend Musicians Institute (GIT) where he studied with an array of music industry professionals - including harmony, theory and ear training with Carl Schroeder. He attended open counselings with Scott Henderson, clinics with Guthrie Govan, Marty Friedman, and met the great Allan Holdsworth backstage after a show at the Baked Potato. Christian also studied privately with one of his biggest influences, world-renowned fusion guitarist Alex Machacek for a period of six months. Christian graduated from Musicians Institute in 2009. The final exam was to play for a packed house at Hollywood’s Knitting Factory. Upon returning to Canada, Christian has performed at several large venues including The Sound Academy and the Canadian Indie Music Awards. He released his debut album Insight at age 21, an EP featuring Brandon Hopkins (Hard Honey) on drums. Christian produced and engineered the EP himself. Insight also features a stunning guest solo from Terry Syrek. Christian has featured on San Francisco radio show Full Shred Ahead in the “shredders you need to check out” segment. He is currently writing his next full-length album and playing with Toronto rock band, Affinity. http://www.youtube.com/user/andersenshred https://soundcloud.com/christianandersenmusic
