Genestealer was a Dutch progressive metal band from Eindhoven in North Brabant. Originally formed in 1988 as Moose, the band started playing progressive thrash metal in the style of Mekong Delta, Psychotic Waltz and Prong. Moving in a more progressive metal direction the band changed its name to Genestealer. As Genestealer the band released a demo, A Thousand Steps, in 1991. The band subsequently changed its name back to Moose, moving in a noise direction. The band members subsequently sold their instruments and re-launched as a progressive techno dance music outfit.
