The band pulls its inspirations from AC/DC, Jack White, ZZ Top and Eagles of Death Metal. With humorous motifs, and double innuendos Anthem has a mainstream allure combining modern rock with classic hard rock. Drawing upon rock n roll tradition, they use blues-based influences along with some hard-hitting metal riffs. Anthem was founded 2012 by vocalist/guitarist Lennis Hayes, the band consists of Lennis Hayes (vocalist/guitar), Sam Startzel (drums) and Carlos Crespo (bass). Members of the band have opened for popular acts such as Seether, Papa Roach, Down, Rob Halford (Judas Priest/Fight), Dave Lombardo(Slayer), Nonpoint, Adeama, Taproot, Drowning Pool, and Tantric, and have performed at the Hard Rock Cafe (Houston, Tx) & House of Blues (Dallas,Tx),(Disney World, Orlando, FL) Anthem of the Sun recently finished recording at Large Mouth Studios with David Zychek in China Springs, Tx and is touring regionally. Their debut album is slated to be released April of 2014.
