Fire Merchants was a hard rock / fusion band from United Kingdom formed in 1986 by guitarist John Goodsall, formerly of Babylon, Brand X, Sandoz and Atomic Rooster and drummer Chester Thompson, formerly of Frank Zappa, Weather Report, Genesis, featuring Doug Lunn as a bass player making them a power trio. Their music is a heavy edged hard rock mixing it with jazz fusion style, marking it as an early example of metal and hard rock fusion, with reminescences of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Brand X, Atomic Rooster etc.
