A Sleepless Malice is a melodic death metal band from Lapeer in Michigan, formed in 2009. The origin of the band began with former guitarist of Selfless, Jeff King, and the former guitarist of Flesh Burned to Ashes, Doug Cleland. The idea was to keep the alias Flesh Burned to Ashes, and to bring an old idea back to life. Soon, after the idea was a confirmed "go", they recruited a studio drummer, former vocalist Josh Cleland and a studio bassist. A few months would pass with this line-up - giving them the first few creative sparks and bringing life to what would later be known as A Sleepless Malice. Needless to say, a line-up change was due after difficulties with members. This time recruiting a second vocalist (A former member of such bands as Selfless, Foundation of Power and Deadringer) Grim, and former bass player of Selfless, Aaron Christensen. This would remain the line-up for a few months until later recruiting the former drummer of Acidrane, Justen Kilgore, and removing former vocalist Josh Cleland. The line-up would remain as is for the next few months, putting forth as much effort as possible into writing new material and adjusting to the new setting, members and different creative ideas. With a new and, somewhat, stable place to write and practice it allowed the band the time necessary to write and construct the first set of songs that would start their musical Trek. This line-up came to an abrupt end due to reason concerning, drummer, Justen Kilgore. Without a drummer the band began practicing in the small town of Hadley, Michigan. A small town - fenced in by churches and, easy-going small-town, people who didn't seem to mind the melodic metal being created down the street - in the heart of their town. Soon after a new drummer would be recruited. As quickly as the new drummer appeared, he vanished - leaving the band on a writing hiatus once again until, soon after, recruiting new drummer (former drummer of idecay) Chris Whipple. It was this line-up which released the band’s self-titled debut album in 2010. [Biography taken from ReverbNation]
