Shelving is a progressive and instrumental mathcore band from Delémont, Canton Jura, Switzerland formed in 2005. Shelving released their debut album 'Mécanique Sessions' later on that year. The album incorporated a strong improvisational progressive rock element into their mainly mathrock / metalcore style, earning them comparisons to MOGWAI as well as FUGAZI. In 2008, the band added an organ player to the lineup and released their second album 'Imihs'. This album discarded the initial mathrock/metalcore style and instead turned towards a seventies-inspired type of improvised rock, with lots of Hammond organ and strong influences from psychedelic krautrock and experimental noise. As such they can be compared to another Swiss post-rock band, Shora, who also evolved from metalcore/mathrock to a type of improvisational rock that closely resembles Guapo. The 'Imihs' album was created during a 4-days retreat in the Jura mountains. Recorded in live conditions, it's a 50 minute continuous piece of dark, epic, complex and sometimes heavy rock music.
