The band started back in November 1998, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Peter Maturi, guitarist Bob Brockmeyer, bassist and vocalist John Brockmeyer and drummer Jon-John Michaud. 2004 saw the release of the bands debut album "When White Becomes Black" and the single "Torrential". The tracks for these releases had been recorded in 2002 and 2003, but when concert dates became an issue in 2003 and 2004 there was a turnover in personell, exit Beckmeyer times two, enter guitarist Chris Csar and bassist Dave Beck. Later in 2004 Chris Csar switched to bass and vocal duties, while Cole Crickenberger took over as guitarist. Come 2005 and Chris Csar takes over the guitar again, while Jamie Garonzik was the new bassist. It didn't take long before more changes occured within the band, as drummer Michaud left, and then Chris Csar took the drum position, Jamie Garonzik took over the guitar spot while new man in on bass guitar was Nathan Trowbridge. In between all of these personnel changes the band also took the time to record a new album, "The Sirens of Silence", which was released in July 2005. Towards the end of 2005 the band had a complete changeover. Pete Maturi remained, while guitarist Greg Howell, bass player Graham Milner and drummer Jimmy Rhodes joined the ranks. This line-up lasted until the band folded in November 2006. In May 2009 Swarm Of The Lotus announced that it was getting back together. The regroup didn't last long and on December 19, 2010 that the band was on indefinite hiatus. Aside from releasing two albums and a single, Swarm Of The Lotus appeared on an Eyehategod tribute album, For The Sick, contributing the track "Blood Money". http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.swarmofthelotus.com/
