Divergence is a progressive deathcore / death metal band from New York City in New York, active since 2013. Divergence was formed in 2011 after Andrew and Dan's previous band Downward Architect split up. The two wanted to create a new direction to get more experimental and heavier. Shortly after the fact new songs were being written between them. A progressive element came naturally and the band began to explore into the realm of death metal, grindcore and deathcore. In need of members Anthony Espinal was contacted to join the band. Giovanni Serrano was brought in as vocalist, as he had worked before with Anthony on projects before.
