Compound Terror is a grindcore / death-grind band from British Columbia, Canada. Compound Terror was formed in November of 2007 and originally named Collapsing Hierarchy because it was the first name that Scott (drums) could think of. Scott asked Kevin (guitar) to join and, after the first week, six songs had been written and four of those would eventually be kept. Jamie (vocals) was asked to join at the beginning of week two and brought with him all of his noise equipment. Over the next three weeks, another five songs were written to complete a 20 minute set. Noise was added to the live performance to limit the amount of hilarious between song banter heard from the band and the audience. After a few months of steady shows, Compound Terror went into the Creepcore studios to record a demo with Cody of Leper. Four tracks were chosen and the noise and sample elements from the live show were added during the mixing process. The demo was recorded and mixed for under $100. In late 2008, Compound Terror began working on their half of a 7" split with The Communion from New York. Recording and mixing was finished by January 2009, and the vinyl was released in June 2009 by Midnight Sea and Just Say No! Records. In July 2011, recording, mixing and mastering of Compound Terror's first full length was completed. 'Beneath a Steel Sky' has 14 new tracks with additional noise elements performed by Coastal. During the recording of Beneath a Steel Sky, two separate tracks for splits and compilations were also recorded. [Biography Facebook]
