Rise of Avernus is an Australian progressive/symphonic doom metal act, the brainchild of musicians Ben Vanvollenhoven (vocals, guitars) and Cat Guirguis (vocals, keyboards). The two released the self-titled debut EP in 2012. Expanding into a full band, Rise of Avernus released their debut album L'appel du vide in 2013, originally off their own backs.
