THIRTEEN (Alternative Metal)

Thirteen is a joined forces of singer-songwriter Audrey Lahaije and keyboardist-composer Jeroen van der Wiel (Odyssice). Audrey's lucky number is 13. And as it just happens, Audrey and Jeroen met on the 13th (of March 2010), the band name was born. Jeroen started off playing the family Hammond organ at young age and by listening to his heroes, like Rick Wakeman, Mark Kelly, Tony Banks and Jean Michel Jarre, he developed himself as a prog-keyboard player. In 1995 he joined the Dutch instrumental band Odyssice and is still a active member. Through the years Jeroen worked with artists such as Tamas Szekeres, Ian Parry, Kane and John Hayes, with whom he opened for Kiss in Dortmund in 1999. Audrey started singing as a child, idolizing Madonna. In the 90s Audrey was mainly active as a singer for coverbands, singing songs from many different artists like Alanis Morrisette, The Cranberries, K’s Choice, but also Metallica and Mariah Carey. More recent influences are bands like Nightwish (Anette Olzon period) and Evanescence. The main influence for the sound of Thirteen is a cross between Nightwish, Within Temptation, Evanescence, Pink Floyd, Muse, Marillion and many others. The strength of Thirteen lies in the unique collaboration between Audrey’s melody and lyric writing, and Jeroen’s songwriting and arrangements. For the recording of the debut album ‘A Shot in the Dark’ they called in the help of several guitarists, such as Dennis 'Hairball' Smeekes (‘Powerpimps’), Aldo Adema (‘Egdon Heat’and ‘Tumbletown’), Jaco Ket and Mark Silverentand (‘In The Pocket’, ‘P!nk Time’ and ‘The Flow’), to contribute on some of the songs.
